Bye, bye wisdom teeth

February16

So this morning I headed off to the dentist to get rid of three of my little friends - my wisdom teeth.

The two top teeth popped out pretty quickly after a bone wrenching grinding sound spread up and down my entire jaw. It was a horrible sound that worked its way from the insider of my ear out.

Ok but moving on from the relatively painless free top teeth it is time for the story of the bottom tooth.

One of my bottom teeth doesn’t exist (I don’t know why) but thank god it doesn’t because it turns out that my bottom tooth was “difficult”.

There is no need to go in to details but let’s just say that when my tooth finally came out after an ‘unusually long time’ the dentist said, ‘oh my goodness you have to see your tooth, it is deformed’. The dentist then displayed my bloody tooth to me and yep, it was deformed.

I was just glad the whole thing was done though…except, of course, for the two roots that remained stuck in my jaw.

20 minutes and six stiches later the whole ordeal was over and now, I am without wisdom.

My wisdom put up a good fight though - way to go!

Why

February14

Why don’t eyes get cold?

I was walking the dog this morning it what was practically a blizzard and the driving snow quickly froze my nose.

The chill then crept into my cheeks and migrated to my chin (I hate having a cold chin by the way). Then my thighs began to solidify, and not in that pumped up 500 squats kind of way.

I was only distracted from the uncomfortableness of rough jeans scraping over cold thighs by the rapid cooling of my finger tips - pinky finger first.

But my eyes never got cold and, more to the point, my contact lenses didn’t freeze or even stiffen.

Why can the nose, cheeks, chin, thighs and fingers get cold but not the eyes.

Now that I think about it I’m pretty sure my thumb never gets cold either.

Oh yeah, happy valentines day.

3 - steps

February12

So back when I first started this blog I was one of those people who never washed their face - I mean I’d splash water on my face in the shower but I had no regimented face washing protocol.

That’s changed…now I’m on the clinique 3 - step system.

Actually a lot of things have changed for the more vain (vainer?) since I started this blog.

I now blow dry my hair every day (except every once in a while on weekends).

I now have more high-heeled shoes than running shoes.

I wear a belt with my jeans even though it’s not as comfortable.

I try to match my socks.

I wear blush (sometimes - compared to never before).

Maybe it’s because I’m getting old and suddenly the choice has shifted from looking high maintenance versus scruffy to looking well put together versus old.

I don’t mind getting old, in fact I still have two more years before hitting my ‘ideal age’ of 32 but for some reason I have started to equate caring about how I look with people giving me the respect I feel I deserve.

Or maybe I’m just becomming shallow.

Sigh…

February9

Just when things seem to be sorted out (ie. boss recognizing that I can’t be in two places at once and freeeing me from my obligations in Argentina to attend the meeting in Montreal ) they aren’t.

The Montreal meeting may - or may not - be cancelled. If it is not cancelled it may - or may not - be delayed until after I would return from Argentina.

My head is spinning - all I want to know is which friggin continent I’m going to be on in March. Is that really too much to ask?

On another note Meeka (the dog) has suddenly started chasing balls. I have no idea what sparked this sudden 180 in behaviour but she has gone from giving me a look of ‘what the hell did you do that for’ when I throw her ball to, ‘quick, quick throw it again, what the hell is taking you so long’.
