Never been so mad
So my boss just called me a liar.
Actually he called me a liar about an hour ago but it’s taken me a while to calm down.
I gave him a document and 2 weeks later he finally gave me comments back. I went through the entire document in a day and a half and deleted the comments one by one as I addressed them.
There were about 100 comments to begin with.
By the end there were 12 comments that either just required answering a question or which suggested changes that I disagreed with.
I took the revised document plus these 12 comments and sat in my bosses office for half an hour going through all of them.
In the end there were only 2 that we didn’t get to so I made my own call.
On Saturday my boss sent an email berrating me for ignoring his comments and reminding me that my performance evaluation is based almost entirely on these two documents (which take up maybe 10% of my total work load).
I came in this morning to remind him that I had taken into account at least 95% of his comments.
He called me a liar.
He gave me one example - you didn’t mention coral reefs - and I pointed out the exact wording one line earlier where I mentioned coral reefs.
He gave me another example - you ignored my comment about fybos - I said I must have missed that one even though I was 99% sure it didn’t exist - he asked how I could possibly miss it when it’s right…oh wait a sec that comment, in fact, didn’t exist.
But there are plenty of other examples - he said - that prove that I am a liar.
I walked out.
Really I had to or else I was seriously going to blow a gasket.
I mean criticise my writing - fine, criticise my methodology - fine, call me a liar - not fine!
